The Uplands Pet Hospital Puppy and Kitten Wellness Program is designed
to offer your new puppy a great, safe, and healthy start to life in your
family.
For puppies, it includes a series of examinations and vaccinations starting at about 8 weeks of age, including rabies, distemper, parvovirus, adenovirus (hepatitis), and parainfluenza.
For kittens, it includes a series of examinations and vaccinations starting at about 8 weeks of age, including rabies, panleukopenia (feline distemper), calici, rhinotrachitis, and leukemia.
In addition, your puppy or kitten may be tested and treated for worms. The most common intestinal worms of puppies are roundworms. The most common intestinal worms of kittens are roundworms and tapeworms.
Roundworms can cause gastrointestinal signs, such as vomiting and diarrhea. There are other parasites that can cause your puppy or kitten to become anemic (low red blood cells) as well. However, it is possible for your new pet not to show any signs of having internal parasites. Therefore, proper deworming is essential.

At Uplands Pet Hospital we offer a complimentary (free) health check
when you first get your puppy or kitten. It is a good idea to have a
veterinarian examine your puppy or kitten as soon as you bring it home
to make sure that there are no health concerns and to find out how you
need to care for your new best friend. Just call the clinic and say that
you just got your puppy or kitten and that you would like to make an
appointment for the free health check. You will also be given a puppy or
kitten package with information on everything you need to know about
your new family member, including information on vaccines, nutrition, deworming
and training.
