Post-operative x-rays show the very successful placement of 3 bone pins - repairing this fracture.
A young dog was hit by a vehicle, fracturing the distal end of the right femur. A temporary splint is placed until the surgery is performed.
The patients temporary splint is removed after being anesthetized. The entire leg will be shaved and cleaned thoroughly before surgery.
Dr. Jacob begins the repair of the dogs femur by first finding the two ends of the bone. The bone being visualized in the photo is the broken end of the shaft of the femur.
Kathy takes our patient out for a stretch at the back of the clinic. After a successful surgery, the puppy is ready to go home soon. Post-operative care involves strict rest and follow-up appointments with Dr. Jacob.
